Software Developer, VB.net & SQL

A growing software company in the Mortgage, Accounting and Investment Industry is seeking a software developer proficient in VB.net, VB, SQL Server, C#.net, and Crystal Reports to enhance existing financial software system while building interfaces for new online modules.

The developer will have an understanding of the Canadian financial industry. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written for client support and troubleshooting software issues is required.  Ideally previous experience developing accounting, mortgage or investment systems is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the current software system, application and design,
  • Participate in design, system requirements and development for proposed new integration applications,
  • Build and manage SQL Server databases, including database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, jobs, and maintenance plans,
  • Develop customizations of the software based on business requirements of clients thus having a firm understanding of Financial Applications and business,
  • Build business-specific applications for Windows (VB.Net and SQL Server) languages,

Enhancements:

  • Contribute to continuous improvements of the existing Private Lending Accounting system,
  • Work with the existing clients and the other developers to determine customized client requests,
  • Create queries and reports using Crystal Reports,
  • Responsible for database design, management and security,

Client Support:

  • Able to read the code to determine user or system errors based on client queries,
  • Ability to support client queries with written documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Diploma and or equivalent experience,
  • SQL Server 7, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2008r2,
  • MS SQL Server SSIS and SSRS,
  • Net, Visual Basic, C#,
  • Net, ASP, HTML, PHP,
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to collaborate with team and clients to derive options and solutions to various problems,
  • Strong usability analysis and design skills,
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills,
  • Mathematically inclined and detailed driven,
  • Ability to maintain a highly positive working relationship with other team members,
  • Experience with Financial Software products is a major asset

  • Financial services background – desirable.

Mortgage Administrator

Dolphin is seeking Mortgage Administrators to implement and train new and existing clients.   The candidates will ideally have experience in Mortgage Administration, strong understanding of Canadian mortgage lending and investments practices and knowledge of accounting. The candidates will possess strong mathematical, logic and communication skills.

The responsibility of candidate will be:

  • Assisting new clients with data conversion, software implementation and accounting configuration,
  • Managing the software implementation process to ensure efficiency,
  • Training clients on the system itself, including all features and functions as well as the business logic within the software,
  • Training clients on the difficult unique case scenarios and able to demonstrate by using and understanding the software’s mathematical formulas,
  • Troubleshooting client issues, comparing issues against the functions and logic of the software, and ensuring successful implementation of changes or additions,
  • Managing all customization requests including effectively understanding the requests, documenting the requests and comparing requests against the logic of the software,
  • Maintaining an ongoing support program with existing clients to ensure they are gaining value from the software,

Skills required are:

  • Mortgage Administration knowledge with experience,
  • Ability to understand all Mortgage Accounting principles,
  • Ability to understand the principles of Accounting (credits, debits, assets, liabilities), Financial Statements, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries and bank reconciliations,
  • Ability to understand and execute all Canadian Mortgage Loan and Investment Calculations,
  • Understanding of Mortgage concepts, definitions, and principles,
  • Ability to resolve and/or understand client’s issues and succinctly communicate those requirements,
  • Ability to think logically with strong mathematical skills,

Responsibilities:

  • Training, Trouble shooting and Client Relations,
  • Record detailed reports on client customization requests,
  • Take initiative to ensure client’s satisfaction with the system,
  • Able to work in a growth industry and growing Company.

Education:
– Ideally a Graduate in Business, Accounting or Technology Degree.
